The Best Property in Milton

My husband, Joe, and I started looking for a “horse property” a couple of years ago. We looked at several, but none seemed to be right for us. I was more interested in the barn, and Joe was more interested in the house. The barns were either too small or too big. The houses were often not updated, laid out strangely, or the whole property was in the middle of nowhere. Nothing seemed to feel like home and most were overpriced.

One morning while perusing the real estate sites, I saw what appeared to be a beautiful home and barn. Funnily enough my agent contacted me the same day asking what I thought of it. I loved the look of the place, but there was no indoor and still seemed a little high in price. We kept looking. Every time I looked back at this particular house, though, the price had changed. That indicated to me motivated sellers. Then I realized that I knew them! I rode with their daughter when I first bought Hwin and remembered when they moved there. The horse world is a very small one. We had to see the house.

When we finally saw it, I knew immediately upon entering. It felt like home. It reminded me of the house I grew up in. Completely different layout and smaller, but being a custom built home from the same time period, it had much the same character. The barn, too, was well built with room for expansion and everything was kept up beautifully. Ten acres was the perfect size for a small horse farm, not to mention the incredible views.

In the end it seemed like fate. The sellers were wonderful people who ended up buying our house from us. Everything went smoothly, and we continue to be friends with the sellers.

After we bought the home and I started posting pictures of it, it seemed like just about everyone knew the property or had some connection to it. It is pretty distinctive up on the hill with its red barns, white fences and pillars. Now it was just a matter of figuring out where to put the indoor and make the property and house our own! A few calls were made to start the process and off we went.
